Dr. Allie and Dr. Blake, founders of TRU Living Products, were no strangers to the struggles of finding trustworthy, natural products that aligned with their health-conscious values. Not only did they find it difficult to find personal care items that they felt comfortable using themselves, but they were also frustrated by the lack of clean, safe options they could recommend to their patients. As doctors dedicated to holistic healing, they knew that the body’s health could be compromised by exposure to harmful chemicals, heavy metals, additives, parabens, and endocrine disruptors commonly found in traditional personal care products.
While their patients were seeing improvements with their treatment plans, they noticed a plateau when it came to the effects of personal care products. Despite the progress in other areas of wellness, these patients continued to be exposed to toxic chemicals that could be hindering their overall health. This realization ignited a passion in Dr. Allie and Dr. Blake to create a solution—a product they could stand behind with confidence and trust. They decided to begin with something simple yet powerful: an all-natural tallow balm.
Blake’s sister, Erika, who was already immersed in the world of business and wellness, joined the team to help bring their vision to life. The first batch of their tallow balm was handmade in Blake and Erika's mom’s kitchen—an adventure that quickly became a family affair. Their mom, ever the good sport, tolerated the mess and the greasiness of tallow in her kitchen as the team experimented with different formulations. Soon, the balm became a hit with friends and family, who loved the clean, effective product that was both nourishing and safe.
As word spread, demand for the balm grew. The team realized they needed to scale up to meet the needs of their growing customer base. They began reaching out to larger-scale, trustworthy manufacturers who shared their commitment to high-quality, non-toxic ingredients. (And Blake’s mom was more than happy to reclaim her kitchen!)
